Fake-Plant Maker Shuttering Hialeah Warehouse, Moving To Lakeland

A manufacturer of artificial flowers and trees is ditching South Florida and laying off dozens of local employees.

Nearly Natural has operated out of this Hialeah warehouse for years.

Nearly Natural filed a notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with the Florida Department of Commerce last week, disclosing that it plans to close its Hialeah warehouse and lay off 60 workers.

The company's headquarters and distribution facility is at 3870 W. 108th St. in Hialeah. It plans to shutter its operations there around Oct. 12 and relocate to Lakeland, according to the notice. The company will terminate the employment of its South Florida workers.

A representative for Nearly Natural didn't respond to a request for comment.

The company was founded in 2002 by Robbie Singer and specializes in artificial trees and flowers designed by horticulturalists to look and feel authentic.

It occupies Suite 20 at Prologis Countyline 100, an industrial park just off Florida's Turnpike a few miles south of Miami-Dade's border with Broward County.

The 241K SF building is being marketed by JLL as fully available starting June 2027. It has 16K SF of office space, 32-foot clear heights and 66 dock doors, according to a brochure.

A JLL spokesperson declined to comment. Prologis, which owns roughly 30M SF of South Florida industrial space, didn't immediately respond to Bisnow's request for comment.

Miami-Dade's industrial market has been a hotbed for investors and developers, although its vacancy rate of 7.1% at the end of the second quarter was the highest in at least a decade, according to CBRE.

There was 2.9M SF of industrial space under construction at the end of June, down 30% in just three months after 1.2M SF of projects delivered.
