With $65M In Series C Funding, Startup Readies For Smart Tinting Glass Product Launch

South San Francisco-based Kinestral Technologies just closed $65M in Series C equity funding. The firm will use the funding to launch Halio, smart tinting glass technology, into North America later this year and the global marketplace next year. The smart tinting glass provides shade within seconds and can achieve desired tinting within three minutes.

Tinting can be a range of neutral grays to complement a design style or color palette. Kinestral CEO S.B. Cha said the glass can be used for interior walls in homes and buildings.

The investment was led by AGC Asahi Glass and included new investor Hermes-Epitek and existing investors 5AM Ventures, Alexandria Venture Investments, Capricorn Investment Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital and Versant Ventures.
