East Palo Alto Boxing Club just scored $25k in cash, computers and fitness equipment from Equity Residential. The donation will help expand its after-school program into additional space adjoining the gym. Here's Equity first VP John Hyjer getting a (likely) strong handshake from club founder and coach John Gray, a three-time Golden Glove Middleweight Champion and East Palo Alto resident of 30 years. Equity's giving isn't limited to boxing; last year it created a fund to supplement private club fees for soccer, football and other organized sports for kids in its Woodland Park Apartment Community.
