The Division of Occupational Safety and Health of California launched an investigation into the construction incident that occurred last Wednesday afternoon at 33 Tehama, also known as 41 Tehama. An inspector was on-site after a hydraulic lift failed, causing a platform to lean. Evacuations of several nearby buildings and street closures were ordered after the platform was thought to be at risk of falling. The site was secured late Wednesday night and no damage or injuries were reported.

The agency is investigating the general contractor Lendlease and subcontractor Pacific Structures, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

Cal/OSHA spokesperson Erika Monterroza said if violations are found that jeopardized public safety, the parties could face fines up to $70k. Investigations will continue for up to six months, and Cal/OSHA is talking with the construction companies, employees and witnesses.

San Francisco’s Department of Building Inspection also filed a building violation against the development last Thursday.

Hines and Invesco are developing 33 Tehama into 403 apartments expected to deliver later this year.
