A new Phoenix training facility for the Arizona Cardinals promises to be a significant upgrade from the team's existing training facility in Tempe.

The team announced Thursday that it had broken ground on the new facility in north Phoenix.

The proposed mixed-use facility, which sits on 217 acres at Paradise Ridge, will feature football training facilities and offices for the NFL team’s business operations.

An affiliate of the team reportedly purchased the site for $136M at auction from the Arizona State Land Department, the team announced on Sept. 30.

The property, which is expected to open in 2028, will comprise 30 acres of training facility space, including 250K SF of mixed-use space. This is a notable upgrade from the team’s current facility, Tempe's Dignity Health Training Center, which sits on 14 acres.

The new training center will feature three natural-grass outdoor practice fields as well as a fieldhouse with a full-size indoor turf field.

Other components of the new facility include a bigger, modernized locker room and new spaces for training and medical care. There will also be dining areas, meeting rooms and lounges.

The Phoenix Business Journal reported the office portion of the property will be part of a mixed-use development that includes restaurant, retail and residential spaces. The Cardinals are working with the city of Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority to bring businesses to the mixed-use site.

Detroit-based sports architecture firm Rossetti is designing the headquarters, with Mortenson building up the site and architecture firm Nelson assisting with the overall plans, according to the announcement.

The Cardinals first announced planned investment in a new facility about a year ago, after the team scored low in the 2025 NFL Players Association survey. The top concern for many Cardinals players was the need for a new, larger facility, as well as other factors like an improved food program, Sports Illustrated reported.
