Fergie's Tower at 1213 Walnut Now Underway

Work has started on another long-stalled project with the groundbreaking of 1213 Walnut, less formally known as Fergie's Tower after the bar that the new construction will eventually surround.

The Goldenberg Group, Hines and ASB Real Estate Investments are developing the 322-unit apartment high-rise on a site that's been primed for redevelopment since before the recession.

Fittingly, considering that a lot of tenants are expected to live in the city without a car, the design is without a parking garage, opting instead for bike storage and workshop, Philadelphia Magazine reports. The property will be completed in 2017. [PM]
