A SpringHill Suites by Marriott may be coming to the newly renovated Gateway Center off Lake Forest Drive.
The Lake Forest City Council voted unanimously last month to approve the five-story, 102-key hotel.
Some city council members had previously voiced concerns regarding traffic issues and parking in the area, the Orange County Register reports. Local residents have also expressed concerns about traffic.
The hotel would have a 1,700 SF lounge but no restaurants on-site. Tharaldson Hospitality Group is the applicant for the project.
The development would replace a 13k SF retail building that was previously approved but never built. The council is scheduled to take a final vote on Tuesday.
