George Grace is reopening the brokerage he founded, six years after he closed it.

G.E. Grace & Co. officially relaunched Jan. 1 after Grace left his position at Dallas-based Mohr Partners. Grace closed his brokerage shop in 2012 when he took the position heading up Mohr's New York City office.

“Our entrepreneurial instincts and extensive experience in real estate make this a truly exciting, opportunity-rich time to relaunch our company to help organizations navigate through rapidly changing real estate markets, so that they can gain the fullest advantage of emerging opportunities,” Grace said in a release.

The firm is launching with Grace and a team of six employees, many of whom came over from Mohr, including Lewis Cowan, David Schneck and Barbara Eddington. The team has already nearly finalized a 165K SF deal on Staten Island, according to the launch announcement. Grace has previously counted Empire State Development Corp. and GE Capital as clients.

“The commercial real estate industry should be performing at a much more sophisticated level than it is," Grace said. "Often there are too many people assigned to the brokerage team, and too many team members who are insufficiently trained or seasoned. Before Grace relaunched his eponymous firm, he also completed his first novel.
