PODCAST: Bisnow's 'Let's Have A Drink,' Episode 1: Bob Knakal

Bisnow has a new podcast series, Let’s Have A Drink, where we sit down with the personalities who shape New York City real estate — the most cutthroat, challenging and thrilling market in the world.

Hosted by Bisnow reporter Miriam Hall, we examine the deals, the disappointments and, of course, drinks of choice. You can subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud or anywhere else you listen to podcasts.

In our debut episode, Bisnow sits down with Bob Knakal, chairman of New York investment sales at JLL, at the Penn Club in Midtown Manhattan. We talk about almost going bankrupt, selling his old company, sleeping on big decisions and honesty in business.

“As large as New York City is, and as large as the brokerage community is, it’s still a very small world. And you have to be conscious of the fact that you are going to see a lot of people on your way in, as you do on your way out — or your way up, or way down,” he said on the show.

“Just try to do the right thing, have confidence that in the long run, everything will work out.”

CORRECTION, OCT. 24, 10:45 A.M. ET: Bob Knakal is the chairman of New York Investment Sales at JLL. An earlier version of this story misstated his title. This story has been updated.
