Ryman Hospitality Properties is planning an indoor/outdoor water park adjacent to its Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, the Nashville Business Journal reports. According to bid documents, Ryman Hospitality tapped D.F. Chase to build the addition.
The water park will be three stories tall and include raft, tube and speed slides, fast and slow rivers, pools, sun decks and cabanas. There will also be a wave pool and an assortment of food and beverage options.
The water park would be a major addition to an already major hospitality property. The Gaylord Opryland Resort has almost 2,900 rooms, significantly larger than any other hotel in Middle Tennessee.
The addition would aim to capitalize on Music City's robust growth in recent years. In 2015 (the most recent stats available), tourism spending in Davidson County was $5.7B, up 5% from the previous year, according to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. [NBJ]
