The project at 904 La Brea will include 169 apartments and 37k SF of retail, according to city documents. The Shubin+Donaldson-designed development at the corner of La Brea and Willoughby would feature studio, one- and two-bedroom units, including 14 low-income units. The usual suspects as far as amenities: pool, gym, outdoor deck.

The 1.1-acre project replaced the old '30s-era Art Deco building that sat on the site, and eventually became known as the Mole-Richardson Building (after the stage and motion picture lighting company HQ'd in Hollywood). The owner, a local unit of CIM Group, tore it down last year.

The complex will include one level of underground parking for the retail with 111 spots and two levels above the retail for residents (192 spots). This thing is in the first phases, and will require some city work, including a zoning change from limited manufacturing to commercial. Current delivery is expected for 2018.
