The Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena is getting an $80M renovation over the next few years aimed at modernizing the 102-year-old venue.

Eight major upgrades will be made to the building, including a new club space on the field level of the venue, a new sound system, improved seating and installing “one of the nation’s largest videoboards,” the Rose Bowl's management announced. A full refurbishment of the stadium’s marquee sign and infrastructure improvements are also part of the renovations.

“The Lasting Legacy Campaign is a crucial step in reaffirming the Stadium’s place as a global icon in sports, entertainment and culture,” Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation President Dedan Brozino said in a statement announcing the campaign.

The work will be completed in two phases, one ending in 2026 and another starting right after the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will use the stadium for events. The Rose Bowl Game is also a quarterfinal site of the College Football Playoffs for the next two seasons.

The projects are aimed at “ensuring the continued trajectory of the venue’s hosting abilities for world-class sports and entertainment events, and further driving economic growth and development in the surrounding region,” Rose Bowl management said in a statement.

The campaign will be privately funded by contributions raised by the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation along with funds from third-party partners.

Six of the eight projects are already fully funded, the Rose Bowl Foundation said.
