New Builder For Academy Museum

The Academy Museum of Motion Arts and Sciences, now under construction at the corner of Fairfax Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, is working with an additional builder on its next stage of construction.

MATT Construction has been hired to take over the project effective June 1.

Morley Builders and Taslimi Construction were in charge of initially renovating the building and will continue to oversee the concrete work at the Mid-Wilshire development.

MATT Construction will build the project's spherical theater, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Construction began a year ago. The museum is expected to open in spring 2019.
