| The Elghanayan brothers have made major things happen in New York real estate, and now they’re doing the same for the city’s kids. On the evening of April 5, developer Fred Elghanayan and wifeDiana, above, and brother Tom and wife Madeline will co-chair the main annual fundraiser for Citizens Committee for the Children of New York, a two-hour reception at MoMA allowing guests to see great contemporary and expressionistic exhibitions, mingle with 850 other business stars and philanthropists like Henry Kravis and Don Newhouse, and also do good for one of the most vulnerable segments of NY’s population. |
| Tom, above, joined brothers Fred and Henry to start Rockrose Development in 1970, which became synonymous with buildingthousands of apartments and vibrant retail that helped transform areas like the Meatpacking and Financial Districts into exciting new neighborhoods, and dozens of other residential and office buildings from Chelsea, Murray Hill, and the Upper East Side to some of the major avenues in downtown DC. In ‘09, Tom and Fred founded TF Cornerstone. In addition to an aggressive acquisition strategy and construction division, TF Cornerstone holds a portfolio totaling over 8M SF throughout New York City and DC. Next on their agenda:Hudson Yards and Long Island City (which Tom reminds us is just a 4.5 minute ride on the 7 train and the first stop in Queens). |
| This was the scene at the last gala a year ago. CCC was started in 1944 by Eleanor Roosevelt and others who were concerned about children left home alone when their mothers worked in the war industry. Today thousands of supporters fund a lean staff of 14 thatevaluates data about issues of mental health, early childhood education, housing, homelessness, childcare, welfare, juvenile justice, and food and income security, and works together with volunteers to educate the public and advocate to all levels of government for what they judge to be the most effective priorities and programs for NYC children.
