The Top Gear test track will be bulldozed and transformed into a housing estate featuring up to 2,600 new homes. Waverly Borough Council approved the plan 10 votes to 8 to redevelop Dunsfold Aerodrome, a disused airport in Surrey that has been the home of the wildly popular BBC program "Top Gear" for 15 years. The new estate will feature a community centre, health centre, primary school, a "car home", and shops and cafés. About 30% of the new homes will be affordable, according to MSN.
The planning application also details up to 40k SF for offices, research and development, and industry.
The site is home to 100 businesses that employ about 800 people.
