Retail investor Meyer Bergman won consent to build a £300M mixed-use project next to Borough Market in Southwark. The site was formerly occupied by wine and whiskey attraction Vinopolis, rail arches, a car park and an old warehouse, according to BDOnline.

The “Covent Garden-style” development was initially refused on the basis that the height of the buildings was too high and too close to 20-26 Park St. The revised plans, including a retail arcade and a gallery, were approved. The retail will be reserved for smaller companies with fewer than three outlets.

The project will feature five buildings totaling 18k SF, including 10k SF of retail and 5k SF of offices, plus a cinema. It will also reintroduce the original Elizabethan street names to the area, such as Dirty Lane. [BDO]
