Four Friends Plan New Brewery Inside The Loop

Four friends who have been brewing for the past decade have decided to take their operation to the next level. Tom Ahlstrom, Michael Duckworth, David Lantz and Ben Stahl told the Houston Business Journal they plan to open a 7K to 10K SF brewery and taproom inside the Loop in 2018. No leases have been signed yet.

The group of space industry pros calls its passion project Apogee Brewing Co. Apogee is the name of the highest point of orbit from Earth. The group plans to brew hop-forward, Belgian and barrel-aged ales along with sour and wild ales, Ahlstrom said.

Houston's craft brewing scene has grown in promience over the past years. Recently Platypus Brewing, Sigma Brewing and Holler Brewing joined the growing list that includes powerhouses like St. Arnold and Buffalo Bayou Brewing.
