The new facility, FGM Houston, will be at North Shore Steel's campus near the Port of Houston. FGM will service metal products at the site, including aluminum and stainless steel products.

In the past, FGM has stored supplies near clients, what it calls a "geography-agnostic" model. The company said in a release that a Houston location, near the Port of Houston's newly bustling steel port, is a strategic advantage.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the North Shore Steel campus with its proximity to the Port of Houston, including barge, rail, and truck access," FGM CEO Jeremy Flack said in a release. "We see this as yet another way to help clients engineer supply chains that limit volatility and expand optionality."

The Port of Houston saw 1.3 million tons of steel in the first quarter of this year as it experiences record activity.
