This Week's Houston Deal Sheet

This week of deals saw two big names change house. Doug Pack and Sam Hansen joined Avison Young as principals with a mandate to form, lead and build the firm’s new office project leasing team in Houston.

Sam and Doug bring 18 and 21 years, respectively, of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young from NAI Partners. While with NAI, Doug tripled the office leasing portfolio to 3.8M SF of Class-A and B office space. Sam assisted in building a successful management platform at NAI totaling nearly 4.5M SF of industrial, office and retail.

Michael Slosser joined The Howard Hughes Corp as EVP/managing director of hospitality. He will be based in The Woodlands and lead the company’s hospitality efforts across its national portfolio.

LEASES

ICO Commercial's Danna Sossen and Tawnya Dornak helped a longtime client lease a 5.5k SF office space in The Esperson Building on 815 Walker St Downtown. Cameron Interests' Jano Nixon Kelley repped the landlord in-house.

2023 Humble Westfield

Pfeifer Wire Rope & Lifting Technologies purchased a 10k SF office warehouse facility at 2023 Humble Westfield in North Houston. Black Label Commercial Group's Beau Harris repped both the buyer and the seller, Stratton Development & Construction.

Marymont Apartments

Berkadia’s Houston investment sales team completed the sale of Marymont Apartments. The 128-unit community was marketed by senior managing director Ryan Epstein and associate directors Wes Breeding and Jennifer Ray, on behalf of Fairfield Marymont. HM Equity Management purchased the property to add to its growing Houston portfolio.

NGKF senior managing director Rob Stillwell worked the sale of the Mary Barden Keegan Center at 2445 North Fwy for the Houston Food Bank. The high-visibility building is known for its distinctive “End Hunger” graphic and sold to The Virgata Property Co. The Houston Food Bank is moving to 535 Portwall St, where a larger kitchen with the ability to output four times as many meals is under construction.

8901 Gaylord

Colliers facilitated the purchase of a two-story, 25k SF office building at 8901 Gaylord in Houston. The seller, DNA Interest, was repped by David Carter and John Parsley of Colliers International. Poynter Commercial Properties' Guy Brown repped the buyer.
