Expect Inward Investment To Keep Flowing: Dublin Among The Top Cities For Talent

Dublin
Despite Dublin's Red-Hot Resi Market, There Are Questions Over Finding Buyers.

Dublin is No. 7 out of 90 cities for its ability to attract, develop and retain talent.

That is according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Talent Competitiveness Index which is carried out by international business school INSEAD.

Dublin trumped its closest neighbour London (14th) as well as Paris (ninth), Brussels (10th) and San Francisco (eighth) in the rankings.

Despite the impressive ranking for Dublin, Ireland didn’t make the top countries. It ranked 13th behind New Zealand and Australia.

Six factors were examined during the compilation of the index.

The ‘attract factor’ determined the openness of a city or country, and the ‘grow’ factor examined how well a country or city develops its talent.

The ‘retain’ factor looked at how nice it is to live in a city or country.

The ‘enable’ factor studied the business and labour market and regulatory framework and whether they helped attract people.

Other factors were the availability of workers with vocational and technical skills and those with global knowledge skills.

With everything taken into consideration, Switzerland came in first, with Singapore and the U.S. second and third respectively in the country index.

A “be global” pillar examining internationalisation within a city was also included in the city study.

Dublin ranked first for its regulatory, business, labour and market landscape  as well as performing well under a number of the factors including ‘attract’, ‘enable’ and ‘be global’ and achieving a top 10 ranking for the other two pillars.
