You Can't Bleat This New Offering: Goat Yoga

The recently renovated Stoneleigh Court Hotel has added a once-a-week twilight goat yoga session to the list of its amenities this summer.

As they say in yoga circles, Baaah-maste.

Stoneleigh General Manager Ben Olin said such offerings add something to the hotel experience. The clean rooms and great service are a given at a luxury hotel. The plus is an experience like a bourbon Father's Day brunch, a DJ at the pool on the weekends or, in this case, the ability to sign up for a goat yoga session on the lawn.

"It's having fun, exciting activations that our guests can really enjoy outside of the normal hotel space," Olin said. "We try to create memories and moments for our guests, to create the type of space they want to be in."

The Art Deco Stoneleigh Court, built as a premier hotel in 1923, joins a number of high-profile luxury hotels renovations in Texas in recent years — including The Adolphus and Crescent Court in Dallas, plus the St. Anthony in San Antonio — that are keeping older luxury properties competitive.

The Stoneleigh Court Hotel, a Le Meridien property, renovated guest rooms two years ago and refurbished its historic 11th and 12th floors more recently. In the last month, the new Perle on Maple has opened. Executive Chef Wade Burch made it to the finals of the Food Network's "Chopped" series in 2011.
