Infomart Dallas is one of the biggest and most significant data centers in the Southwest; it’s a network hub where every data center connects within a multi-state area. It's also putting $40M back into its Dallas site. We'd like y'all to connect there (1950 N Stemmons) as well, so we chose it to host Bisnow's Dallas Data Center Extravaganza on July 22.

Infomart Data Centers president John Sheputis (who will speak at our event) tells us the 1.6M SF site hosts about two dozen other data center suites, including some of the nation’s most well known. Two weeks ago, Infomart completed commissioning of three megawatts of turnkey capacity designed to Tier III standards. The three megawatt, 24k SF suite is the first wholesale data center space in the building. You may recall Infomart merged with Silicon Valley-based Fortune Data Centers last October.

It’s the first of several phases of improvements; the site will ultimately supply an additional 500k SF of data center space and more than 40 megawatts of additional critical IT power to the building, bringing it to more than 1M SF within the next decade.

Digital Realty is growing in Dallas, says VP Bryan Marsh (another panelist), with a new 138k SF powered base building under construction at 907 Security Row (below) on the Richardson campus. At the northwest corner of Security Row and International Parkway, the building will open at the end of this month along with the first data center suite inside the building. Bryan says the first data center suite to be delivered in this building will have 1,200 kW of IT load with about 10k SF of raised floor. The total building is planned for 8,400 kW of IT load and approximately 70k SF of raised floor area. (They measure data centers by how much they raise the floor. Unlike dance parties, which are more concerned with raising the roof.)

In DFW, Digital Realty owns 3.3M SF that has 60 data centers and about 487k SF of raised floor area. Bryan tells us Dallas continues to be one of the hottest data center markets in the country, with demand driven by the explosive growth in the use of smart devices, e-commerce and a concept known as SMAC (which stands for Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) computing.
