Zach Sehy and Ally Broeren Sehy

Zach, associate attorney at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, and Ally, VP at Citizens Bank, met in first grade in Champaign, but handholding didn’t start until seventh, Ally tells us. They dated on and off over the years (with stacks of school dance pics as proof), and both attended U of I. After Zach moved back to Chicago, the couple married in 2011 and now live in the West Loop with their 6-month-old daughter. The neighborhood boom exemplifies the market’s recovery, Ally says, and it’s interesting to be dodging so many suits on their walk home. For Valentine's Day, Ally had movie night with the girls, so daddy and daughter knocked back formula and a beer at home.

Steven and Randy Podolsky

The brothers Podolsky got into the industry through osmosis (i.e. through their father's love for the business). On Sundays, they’d go out to Irving Park and Mannheim to look at industrial buildings he was developing, Randy recalls. After 40 years in business together? “We’ve been to all kinds of cool factories, everything from cookies to condoms,” he jokes. Steven’s gravitated toward large brokerage deals for corporate and entrepreneurial clients (nationally and internationally), while Randy prefers development, management and NFP clients. (Current projects: an Aurora development, some spec and a relo and redevelopment for Evanston Arts Center.) The pair also have complementary personalities: Steven’s more laid back and quiet (a Chicago sports savant), while Randy’s more Type A (an outdoor guy, from snowmobiles to scuba). The Hawks, of course, they can agree on.
