Penguin Plunge for Make-A-Wish

We weren’t surprised to learn that the state’s top community-organized fundraising event for Make-A-Wish is organized by real estate folks. Heritage Harbor Ottawa, a 142-acre marina resort development in Starved Rock Country featuring 600 condos, homes, cottages and townhomes, just raised over $96k for Make-A-Wish Illinois with its “Penguin Plunge” event. The details: Community residents and friends collect pledges in support of their big jump off a dock and into winter’s icy water. (One of 22 teams, “The Penguin Plungers,” is pictured.) In its fourth year, the event drew 280 participants and over 2,500 spectators.
