Can you believe DRESL playoffs are next week? There's no better way to celebrate than the Leopardo-sponsored DRESL Idol (above), which we swung by Monday night for some killer karaoke performances at Gamekeepers. The winner of a $150 prize, with a smoldering version of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” was The John Buck Co’s Lindsay Mackey (below), with Rex Electric’s George Velazquez coming in as runner-up. The judges (Leopardo’s Rick DuPraw, CBRE’s Michelle Levy, JLL’s Dan Maslauski) were tough but fair, a la Simon Cowell, but we had to include some favorite performances of our own. Here’s Mike “The Ump” Conway doing the Stones’ “Emotional Rescue” and Leopardo guest Jennie Hansen doing 4 Non Blondes’ anthem “What’s Up.”

Now for the latest game recaps:

Field 1 (early game) – Inland 8, MB Real Estate 2: The bats were hot and the defense hotter for the Boys in Black, anchored at the plate by 2B Farhan Ali (3-4, 2R) and CF Jeff Anderson (2-3, 4RBIs). The game was an all-around solid performance for the scrappy young squad.

Field 1 – Klein’s Corporate 9, JLL 4: Klein’s found a new model for winning. Show up with eight, play great D, and hit with men in scoring position. The team was led by Russ Steinberg (3-5, 3R, 1RBI, playing left) and sterling play at the hot corner from Brian Silverman (4-5, 3R, 3RBIs). Even Coach Richie got into the act with his first extra-base hit in 15 years.

Field 2 – Colliers 12, Cresa 7: Colliers could only field a squad of eight men against a full Cresa lineup, hence the anemic effort against a last place team. Colliers’ highlights included clutch performances from Nick Apostal (4-5, 3R, 4RBIs) and Mark Breithaupt (3-5, 2RBIs, huge defensive assist from right field to third base).

Field 3 – Golub 11, Eastdil 3: The grind of the long season might be getting to the first-time Pickles. Golub’s Jimmy Mac pitched on his 50th birthday and some stellar defense behind him had a shutout going until the bottom of the 7th when Eastdil pushed three across, but a W’s a W!

Field 4 – Retailers 8, Transwestern 5: A very suspect Retailers’ victory over the Never-Say-Die Transfusions. The game was tight until the 4th when rookie Sean Bossy hit a base-clearing double to give the retailers the go-ahead lead. Other hitting stars: Hip Hip Jose and Pete Scannell.

Field 5 – Cushman & Wakefield 17, CTK Chicago Partners 5: John Norris went 3-3 and yard with his third homer of the year, a three-run shot to deep right field. Jumping Jack DiNardo logged three hits and Matt Cowie went 2-3. Defensively, C&W relied on Brett Abrams throwing another great game with a shutout lasting deep into the 4th.

Field 6 – DTZ 4, Bradford Allen 0: DTZ clearly needs to eat some Wheaties, barely squeaking by BA in a classic pitcher’s duel. For the second week in a row, DTZ’s first three batters, the triumvirate of Moy/Kap/Laski, scored in the 1st and that was enough, along with another insurance run by Moy in the 5th. Pitcher Jordan Decker only gave up three hits all game.

Field 7 – CBRE 9, JF McKinney 6: CB needed the win and got it against the JFM team. JFM gave up six runs in the top of the 2nd but toughened up until the 6th, when they gave up two more and another in the 7th. The top of the lineup failed to produce timely hits.
