The Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE) hosted 175 golfers last week for its annual golf outing at Harbourside Golf Club, where they participated in a special survey for Bisnow. At the 15th tee, AIRE asked how the improvement in the economy and the market is impacting each attendee’s business-related golf game. Almost 50% said they’re playing the same amount of golf these days, while almost 30% said they are playing more.

Economic improvement means more money for golf, says NAI Hiffman VP David Haigh, while Hamilton Partners’ George Arnold notes that customers are feeling better about being out of the office. The final fifth of the group said they are playing less golf, though some respondents did ask whether their answers would be made available to their supervisors. Transwestern EVP John Coleman says there’s no time for golf since clients are busier than before, and Bridge Development’s Steve Groetsema says golf has fallen aside as development ramps up (but that’s a good problem to have).
