A Very Special Wedding

Last weekend, your Chicago reporter had the honor of standing up in her best friend's wedding. She's third from the right above, snapped next to the beautiful bride, Hetal Patel. Her groom, Mihir Patel, is up to some usual "boys will be boys" shenanigans in the top left corner with his groomsmen. It was our first Indian wedding, a three-day affair, and we fell in love with the beautiful traditions, sparkling outfits, and welcoming and inclusive environment.

Wedding weekend rundown: We started on Thursday at the Mehndi, where the bride spent hours holding still for her intricate henna. After a religious ceremony on Friday morning, we headed to the Garba/Raas, a night of furiously fun dancing. The Saturday morning ceremony marked the couple's official union, and we celebrated Saturday evening late into the night. Your Chicago reporter made a speech and even participated in a choreographed Bollywood dance (front row, far left).

You'd hardly believe this incredible temple is in Bartlett, but we snapped this picture for proof of a Wonder of the World in our midst. Hetal and Mihir, it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of your special days. We wish you abundant happiness on this new adventure!
