WeWork Signs Lease at McCormick Building

WeWork continues its Chicago expansion: The shared office space giant signed a 50k SF lease in the McCormick Building. The deal gives WeWork a combined 194k SF in River North, Fulton Market and downtown, including 105k SF of Google's space at 20 W Kinzie. The shared office market in Chicago is growing more competitive, Crain's reports. The total number of communal workspaces has grown from 11 in 2011 to 41 this spring. WeWork might quickly find itself with a new landlord—the McCormick Building's owner is looking to sell the 20-story building at 322 S Michigan and its 21-story sister building at 122 S Michigan as one unit and has hired JLL to court buyers.
