WeWork is expanding in Chicago with plans to take over Google’s former River North office. The co-working giant signed a lease for 105k SF at 20 W Kinzie in River North’s hot office market and entertainment district. According to The Alter Group, the 17-story building houses several tech startups, including child care website SitterCity and mobile retailer Modest. It includes amenities such as a secure bicycle pavilion, heated underground parking garage, a rooftop garden, and a bar and restaurant. Its 5% vacancy rate is well below River North’s 10.8% average. WeWork has another River North space at 111 W Illinois and will open a West Loop location at 210 N Green. And, of course, Google will soon move to its new Fulton Market offices.
