More than seven years after initial condo complex proposals, Solstice on the Park, an apartment building and hotel designed by Studio Gang Architects and developed by the Silliman Group (a unit of MAC Property Management), will go up at 5540 S Cornell Ave in Hyde Park, The Chicago Maroon reports. The condo plan was shelved during the downturn. Rental demand will be strong given Hyde Park hasn’t seen a new apartment project since ’87, MAC’s Peter Cassel told the Maroon, though Gang has another one in the works with 180-unit City Hyde Park, under construction at 51st and South Lake Park.
