Belgravia Group and the Conlon Co are looking to demolish the 110-year-old St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church at Sedgwick and Locust streets to build a 50-unit, six-story condo. The actual church at 357 W Locust St, still owned by the Archdiocese of Chicago but under contract with Belgravia pending a rezoning approval, was rezoned last July. But now the developer is seeking to rezone a three-unit residential building at 355 W Locust, to add five units, DNAinfo reports. The planned condo (pictured) will have five floors with 10 units each, ranging from 1,235 SF to more than 1,900 SF, with a 58-car parking lot on the bottom floor. Thirty-five of the condos will be three-bedroom units starting at $600k and the remaining will be two-bedroom units starting at $400k. Meanwhile, Preservation Chicago has been outspoken about either preserving the original church or incorporating it into the new development.
