Lendlease To Start Pre-Leasing At South Loop Apartment Tower This Month

Lendlease announced it will begin pre-leasing in mid-June at The Cooper at Southbank, one of five residential high-rises it is building along the Chicago River in the South Loop.

Lendlease and CMK originally broke ground on the site, Riverline, in September 2016. Lendlease and CMK split the $2B project into two separately controlled developments in March. CMK will retain control of the 8-acre site south of River City, while Lendlease holds on to the 8 acres north of the condo building. It renamed the project Southbank in April.

The Cooper will rise 29 stories and contain 452 rental units including 26 two-story/two-bedroom and three-story/three-bedroom townhomes overlooking a new park. The Cooper will have parking for 230 vehicles on the first floor, and 6K SF of street-level retail with frontage on Wells Street.

Southbank will bring 2,700 new residential units to the South Loop and create a water taxi stop. The 2-acre park will be accessible to the public. The Cooper is expected to deliver in September.
