Construction on Niche 905 Begins

Ascend Real Estate Group and Intercontinental Real Estate Group broke ground last week on Niche 905, an 18-story apartment tower at 905 N Orleans. It's the latest addition to an already packed downtown apartment pipeline.

Ascend CEO Walter Rebenson says Niche 905 was named because it's conveniently located between River North, the Gold Coast, downtown and Old Town. When the building is delivered in summer 2017, it will contain 202 units, 1,750 SF of retail, parking for 150 vehicles, storage for 110 bikes, a skydeck pool and spa, and a pet washing station and dog run.

During the groundbreaking, Rebenson presented a $50k check to St. Luke Church of God in Christ Bishop James C. Austin Sr. The Ascend/Intercontinental JV is building Niche 905 on a parking lot formerly owned by the church.
