Plans for a six-condo building in Edgebrook that would be Chicago's first TOD specifically designed for bike commuters, are on hold while developers work to overcome the objections of residents. Ambrosia Homes first proposed the project in April.

Ambrosia's original plans at 5306 West Devon Ave called for a four-story, eight-unit building with 16 indoor bike spaces, more bike parking outside and the possibility of installing a Divvy bike station outside. The site is within a quarter-mile of the Edgebrook Metra station—a 30-minute train ride from downtown—and close to the North Branch bike trail connecting the Far Northwest Side to the Chicago Botanical Gardens, according to DNAInfo.

Ambrosia cut the scale of the building to three stories, six units and 12 indoor bike spaces after listening to residents. But some still object to the project over concerns that people who buy condos in the building will take up street parking.

41st Ward Ald. Anthony Napolitano said he hasn't heard about Ambrosia's latest plans for the site, but that they may be revealed in time for the ward's next Zoning Advisory Committee meeting in September. [DNA]
