The activity around the Vista Tower site has come along slowly this summer but developers remain hopeful they'll have cranes in the air in the blink of an eye. Magellan Development announced that foundation work for what will become Chicago's third-tallest building is expected to start in August. (Fingers crossed.)
Magellan's David Carlins said site prep will start next week and that once the foundation work begins, there will be road closures along East Wacker Drive, according to DNAInfo. The $950M project will take up to four years to complete, with a target delivery of April 2020.
And the cranes can't rise on the site soon enough. Magellan and partner Dalian Wanda Group have 25% of Vista Tower's 406 planned condos already under contract. With prices for units in the 93-story, Jeanne Gang-designed tower ranging from $900k for one-bedrooms to $10M for entire floors, that's a lot of revenue already being generated. [DNA]
