The future of popular Wicker Park music venue Double Door remains cloudy after Speedwagon Properties' bid to buy the building was accepted by its owner, Brian Strauss.
Rumors of the sale floated for weeks before county records revealed Speedwagon tendered an affidavit of interest to Strauss for the building last month, reports DNA Info. Strauss served Double Door's owners with eviction papers, as well.
It isn't the first time Double Door's future has been uncertain. Strauss tried to evict the club in 2005, but the two sides came to an agreement. If Double Door was forced to vacate and Speedwagon buys the building, it could be redeveloped into more high-end retail near Wicker Park's six corners intersection. [DNA]
