Developers will soon build a new five-story mixed-use project in North Center after the city approved a new construction permit on Wednesday.

The development at 3914 North Lincoln Ave. will feature 68 residential units along with ground-floor commercial space at an estimated cost of $17M, according to city permit documents. It consists of multiple parcels that stretch from 3914 to 3930 North Lincoln Ave. and 3909 to 3917 North Damen Ave.
Longford Construction is the developer behind the project. It will provide seven apartments, a mix of two- and three-bedroom units, affordable to people making 30% of the area median income, according to city documents. The building will also include 28 parking spaces and 76 bike spaces.
Longford Construction couldn't be reached for comment prior to publication.
Chicago City Council approved the project in February 2022. Construction on the project was initially slated to begin in July 2022 and wrap up in December 2023, per city documents.

As part of the proposal, renters who don't own a car will receive a free one-year Divvy bike-sharing membership. Additionally, the developer plans to include multiple sustainability features, including on-site solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations and EV-ready parking spaces, and a design that will exceed the energy code.
The city issued a permit to build the foundation of the development in August.
