Yesterday we wrote about potential uses for the former Finkl Steel site and the future of the area’s planned manufacturing district, and you answered.
Fifield Cos’ chairman and CEO Steve Fifield tells us the site should reflect the evolution of the surrounding area and incorporate more residential and retail uses. It’s an opportunity to also add some park land for playgrounds and dog runs like at Fifield’s K Station on Kinzie. The park used 15% of the land Fifield owned, but it gave the surrounding retail and residential development the sense of a cohesive neighborhood, Steve says.
Prairie Realty Advisors managing director Alby Van Alyea thinks the site would be a great campus for an Internet company and a tech incubator “factory.” (That’s really just a different kind of PMD.)
