Hit These Hotel Rooftops Before Summer Ends

Summer in Chicago. So short. And this year, so delayed. While we’re still feeling some warmth, hustle over to these hip hotel rooftops for a snack, lunchtime martini, or happy hour:

IO Urban Roofscape – The Godfrey Hotel Chicago

The hottest hotel opening this year, Oxford Capital Group’s funky architectural feat does not disappoint. The ultra-modern hotel features the 15k SF IO Urban Roofscape, the largest rooftop in the city, complete with retractable roof, unique River North views, and a white-on-white vibe evoking somewhere much more tropical than the Windy City. And who doesn't love a good fire feature? We’re holding our breath to see what Oxford does at 360 N Michigan.

52EIGHTY – MileNorth Hotel

The latest reimagining of the MileNorth’s 29th floor rooftop has impressive Mag Mile views and a chilled out, intimate vibe. The Lowe Enterprises Investors hotel (managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts) has benefited from a reinvigorated Streeterville east of Michigan, and its glam and plush fits and finishes could work well for both Millennial nights out or more distinguished (who are we kidding?) deal-closing celebrations.

J Parker – Hotel Lincoln

It may have unparalleled views of Lincoln Park Zoo (above), but the J Parker isn’t just for animal lovers. Walton Street’s couple-years-old Lincoln Park hotel (run by Joie de Vivre) is a nice alternative to the bustle of downtown, but don’t think it doesn’t have its own share of sceney moments (come early, you’ll thank us later). This one’s definitely our favorite for eats, thanks to celeb chef Paul Virant’s in-house spot, Perennial Virant, and the occasional outdoor yoga class.
