Boutique Hotel Coming to Midway Airport

Ground was broken yesterday on Vib (pronounced "vibe"), a 74-room boutique hotel from Best Western near Midway Airport. The $8M project will be at 6501 S Cicero.

The groundbreaking was attended by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Ald Marty Quinn and Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, and comes on the heels of a $248M expansion project for the "world's busiest square mile" announced by Emanuel in August, DNAInfo reports.

Best Western CEO David Kong, who lived and worked in Chicago for 14 years, says Vib is a prototype the hotel chain hopes to duplicate in other markets. [DNA]
