Last night, the Real Estate Investment Association gathered at Maggiano's for its annual Legends in Real Estate panel, a chance to see how some fan favorites are making in through the recession. First American Exchange Company's Gabrielle Glass, Osman Construction Corp.'s Jordana Parker, and Regent Title's Katy Thomas enjoyed some wine and conversation. Osman is working on the construction of a Whole Foods in Schaumburg.

We thought we?d stumbled onto the set of Masterpiece Theatre, but it was actually Magellan's Joel Carlins  and Senior Suites' Bill Kaplan, who spoke along with Plante & Moran's Guy Ackermann  and JRG's Harry Huzenis. Joel says his Lakeshore East development is succeeding because most of its condos sold before the crunch, but he's still looking for a hotel client for the Aqua Tower. Bill encourages niche development, since senior living is the only asset class in the black during the recession.
