Despite its leading role in a $30M just-opened upgrade to Logan Airport's Terminal E, Emirates announced Wednesday it would cut one of its two daily flights from Boston to Dubai in the wake of the Trump administration's travel policies.

The airline said it had experienced a drop in U.S. travel stemming from attempts to ban travelers from some Muslim-majority countries, the Boston Globe reports. It slashed U.S. flights by 20%, including flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Seattle and Los Angeles. Its hub in Dubai was one of 10 airports affected by a ban on laptops and electronics larger than a cellphone imposed on U.S.-bound flights (operated by non-American airlines). The Dubai airport, the world's third-busiest, is a major hub for travelers affected by both iterations of Trump's travel ban.

Despite the reduction in service, Emirates is still carrying out plans to build an expanded lounge in the renovated portion of Terminal E.
