Stop & Shop Proposes Mixed-Use Development By Boston Landing

Stop & Shop's Mixed-Use Proposal Would Be Adjacent To Boston Landing.

New Balance could get mixed-use competition in Allston.

Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. and New England Development have released details on Allston Yards, a proposed 10.6-acre, mixed-use development next to Boston Landing. The current Stop & Shop on Everett Street would give way to 1,050 units of housing, 300K SF of offices and a flagship grocery store for the chain, the Boston Herald reports.

The develop partnership expects the four-building project to be constructed in phases over several years, beginning with the new grocery store, 360 units of housing and ground-floor retail.

“We are excited at the opportunity to provide area residents with a new, state-of-the-art grocery store in a dynamic mixed-use environment,” Stop & Shop President Mark McGowan told the Herald.

Maryland-based The Bozzuto Group and Southside Investment Partners are project partners on the proposal.

Allston/Brighton is rapidly emerging as a new tech and life science hub in Greater Boston. Harvard is underway with development nearby and already operates several incubators in the neighborhood.
