Peebles Leaps Over Pike

For its first project in Boston, The Peebles Corp of New York and Miami will tackle a difficult development task: building a major property in the air rights over the Mass Pike, the state transportation department announced. The $330M mixed-use complex at Mass Avenue and Boylston Street will have 85 apartments and 88 condominiums, a 156-key hotel, 26k SF of retail and parking for 138 cars. Peebles Capital president Tawan Davis acknowledges the challenge and expense of constructing a deck and a building over the turnpike. But he tells us that their financial model (include various asset types in one project) and the chance to enter this gateway city will justify the expense.
