An office tower proposal at North Station has a tweaked design and a potential anchor tenant.
Boston Properties wants to change the design of the proposed office tower at Hub on Causeway, a mixed-use project it is co-developing with Delaware North next to the TD Garden.
The proposed design changes entail the tower dropping an earlier planned spire, shrinking from 668K SF to 651K SF, but increasing in height from 420 feet to 495 feet, according to a notice of project change filed with the Boston Planning & Development Agency.
“As we are nearly five years removed from the original [project notification form] submittal, the current proposed office tower has been reimagined to respond to a new generation of office companies and their workforces,” states the filing.
One such company could be Verizon. The telecommunications is actively looking for 300K SF of office space in Boston, and the company could be close to signing a deal at Hub on Causeway, Banker & Tradesman reports. The office tower will rise from a retail podium currently under construction and be joined by a separate hotel and residential tower.
“The evolution of the office tower program brings with it exciting opportunities to reimagine the tower and create an indelible mark on the city skyline,” according to the filing.
