Checkered Flag

First across the finish line, Plano-based hobby-class radio remote controlled vehicle maker Traxxas (that's a mouthful) inked a deal for a $12M-15M campus-style office complex on 12 acres at the NW corner of Sam Rayburn SH121 Tollway and Stacy Road in Craig Ranch. This project is the first in the KDC-Craig Ranch corporate office park JV we told you about June 3. Construction—with KDC as CM—of the 160k-200k SF project begins later this year with a late 2012 completion. The site will house the corporate HQR&D,distribution center, a retail component, test facilities, and public access race tracks.
Craig Ranch developer David Craig tells us that Traxxas will be adjacent to the development's athletic fields, which will attract the families visiting the ball fields to drive radio-controlled cars and trucks and compete on the race tracks. “This is what we've been waiting for,” David tells us. “With the completion of the Sam Rayburn Toll Road about seven months ago and our partnership with KDC, we have positioned Craig Ranch to be the top choice for corporate relocations.” David also says Beazer Homes purchased 93 lots in The Settlement (one of its master-planned communities) earlier this month, making it 181 lots sold since Jan. 1 (K. Hovnanian Homes purchased 88  lots—one of its designs rendered above)—and another 52 are getting ready to go into escrow any day now.
