An Atlanta industrial developer is breaking ground on a warehouse at the former Fort Gillem Army Base, its third since last year.

Robinson Weeks Partners broke ground on a 169.5K SF speculative warehouse this month at Gillem Logistics Center, the master-planned 1,168-acre industrial complex on the site of the former military base in Forest Park, 5 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Robinson Weeks, selected as the project's master developer in 2007, has already developed 8M SF at Gillem, including two other facilities that broke ground last summer.

Called Gillem 700, the project is set to include two drive-in doors, 34 trailer spaces and 175 vehicle parking spots for one or multiple tenants, according to a press release.

Cushman & Wakefield Managing Directors Pat Murphy and Ray Stache, Director Ryan Bellows and Senior Associate Andrew Thurman are leasing the facility for Robinson Weeks.

A prepared meal division of The Kroger Co. has leased 181K SF at 2120 Skyview Drive in Douglasville for its new production facility. Home Chef plans to hire 700 employees in the facility, which will also include a full-service kitchen for cooking and batch ingredient productions for its prepared meals.

Thrive Coworking has opened a new 10K SF coworking location in downtown Suwanee. The deal stems from an agreement Thrive reached with the Suwanee Downtown Development Authority last September to operate the coworking facility for the city, which purchased and renovated the property a year earlier. The membership coworking operator has eight locations in Georgia.

The retailer Nature Planet inked a lease for a 3,500 SF showroom at Armour Yards, the five-building adaptive reuse project situated between Buckhead and Midtown. JLL Executive Managing Director Jeff Bellamy and Managing Director Brooke Dewey brokered the deal for the landlord, Northwood Investors.

Popular Atlanta-based vegan burger chain Slutty Vegan has promoted Jason Crain to president. Crain has been the chain’s chief revenue officer since 2020 and helped Slutty Vegan raise $25M earlier this year.

A graduate of Morehouse College and holder of a master's in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management, Crain previously worked with Amazon.

New York-based Hudson Capital Properties sold its Hudson Ridge Apartments to an affiliate of L+M Fund Management for $143.5M, or more than $330K per unit. The value-add investor purchased the 434-unit property at 3505 Windy Ridge Lane in the Cumberland/Galleria submarket in 2016 for $68M, according to Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors records.

CBRE Vice Chairman Kevin Geiger brokered the sale for HCP.

ParkProperty Capital purchased The Monroe, a 217-unit apartment building at 222 Colonial Homes Drive in the Brookwood neighborhood of Atlanta for $91M. RangeWater and Artemis Real Estate Partners sold the complex for nearly $420K per unit.

Pennsylvania-based Somerset Properties purchased Chattahoochee Corners at River Green, a nine-building, 388K SF flex office complex off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Duluth for $45M from Miami-based B Group Co. Capital Management.
