Steiner Studios Plans 178k SF Production Space At Navy Yard

Steiner Studios has filed building applications for a huge new production facility in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Dattner Architects filed the permits on behalf of developer Douglas Steiner, who hopes to build a 178k SF, three-story facility on Kent Avenue. The facility is slated to include six sound stages, hair and makeup rooms, dressing rooms, and production offices on the top floors, NY Yimby reports.

Steiner Studios already has a huge presence at the Navy Yard with control of 15 acres, which includes 10 sound stages, 580k SF of interior space and a 100-seat screening room. The company is also planning a $137M transformation of the abandoned Navy Hospital Annex into a 420k SF “media campus.”

Steiner Studios is the city’s largest production complex and has made countless contributions to both the big and small screens. The studio has hosted small screen favorites such as Boardwalk Empire and Gotham and filmed numerous major motion pictures, including The Wolf of Wall Street and Sex and the City 2[NYY]
