NYC’s Head Boy Scout

New York Other
Placeholder

JLL’s Ray Quartararo has been named president of the board of the Greater New York Councils of Boy Scouts of America. The former Cub Scout in West Hempstead’s Troop 222 (he reached 1st class but alas, not Eagle) started volunteering for the scouts in ’07 when his sons got involved, and Ray still works with the Westchester-Putnam Council. But, he tells us, the organization’s mission is even more necessary in NYC proper, making it affordable for city kids to experience things and see sights they'd never have a chance to otherwise. It's a massive enterprise Ray will oversee: 45,614 scouts and 4,451 adult volunteers last year, including 131 new Eagle Scouts.
