Cushman & Wakefield HQ to Leave NYC

New York Office

After nearly 100 years in the Big Apple, Cushman & Wakefield is relocating its headquarters from its current location at 1290 Sixth Ave (pictured) to Chicago.

This comes in the wake of the company's $2B merger with DTZ, and will make the Windy City home to two of the world's three largest commercial real estate brokerages.

With a combined employee count of 43,000, Cushman is considering consolidating its downtown workers. Currently the firm has 120 brokers and 600-plus employees in Chicago. The firm occupies about 97k SF at 200 S Wacker Dr and 77 W Wacker Dr (DTZ's global headquarters), plus 17k SF in a Rosemont office. For now, all the brokers will be moved to 200 S Wacker, and everyone else will likely go to 77 W Wacker. A move into a consolidated office space (likely less than 100k SF) could happen as early as 2016. [Crain's]
